Daisies on the Mosoleum of Galla Placidia, Empress of Rome and a pious woman. Daisies stood for eternal life back then. I knew there was a reason they were my favorite!
From the Basilica di San Vitale-- Jesus is depicted looking quite the Greek hero! He's supposed to resemble Apollo- young, strong, and as our tour guide said, "The Winner!"
My favorite part of the mosaic at San Apollinare en Classe... Byzantine art-- I LOVE IT! (there are 99 stars, 3 x 33-- for the Trinity, and the parable of the Lost Sheep)
